Tallahassee Therapist Genesys Pineda

Hi there! My name is Genesys Pineda, and I am a master’s student counseling intern at Bloom and Heal. Therapy can feel awkward at first, especially when you don’t know the person you might be interested in working with. That is why I hope this blog can help make you feel more comfortable about the process by getting to know a little bit about myself and my therapeutic approach.

Who I Am

I am a master’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling student from Northern Arizona University, where I have learned and practiced core skills of counseling over the span of two years of coursework and training. I am currently completing the internship portion of my program at Bloom and Heal. The passion I have for this profession stems from the amazing changes that can happen when people are able to have a space where they can feel safe to be their true selves, express what has been weighing them down, and utilize the genuine connection with their therapist to witness positive growth. When it comes to my clinical work, I strive to create that therapeutic experience for you. I want you to have a space where you feel warmth and trust, so that you can experience opportunities for personal healing in our time together.

My Approach

I would describe my approach as warm, collaborative, and empowering. Our first few sessions will be focused on getting to know you and what is bringing you into the therapy room. It is important for me to be able to get the whole picture that is tied to your concerns, so that way we can understand what has been impacting you from a holistic perspective. The core of my approach is based on a person-centered style, but I also apply different evidence-based counseling approaches, such as CBT and DBT, among others. As our therapeutic connection grows, we can explore together what will be most helpful in addressing your concerns, as I believe therapy should be tailored to your needs. I will be there to support you as a guide, but I also want to encourage that your voice is heard about what has been most helpful for your well-being.

Who I Work With

I have experience working with the college student population and I do have a keen interest to work with adolescents, but I am truly open to working with anyone, no matter the life stage they are at. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, or want to learn more about yourself, then I would be honored to walk alongside you during your journey to find growth and healing.

Outside of the Office

Outside the therapy room, I enjoy rewatching superhero movies or sitcoms (currently rewatching Modern Family for the 100th time) on the couch with my Chihuahua right next to me. I also enjoy weightlifting, dancing, and exploring local coffee shops with my family.

What to Expect When You Reach Out

It can be nerve-wracking when reaching out for the first time, so I want to acknowledge the courage that you have for taking this step for yourself. Once we connect, we will have a brief conversation about what brings you to therapy and your goals. Once we have determined if we are a good fit for each other, then I will set you up on our client portal and have our first session scheduled. There will be some intake paperwork to complete before the first session, but once that’s done, your journey of growth and healing can begin.

Let’s Talk

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this introduction and getting to know me. If you feel ready to reach out to someone for support, please feel free to contact me at genesys@bloomandhealtherapy.com. I look forward to connecting with you and exploring opportunities that will be most beneficial to your overall well-being.

Warmly,

Genesys
