Yunzhi "Ariel" Zheng, Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern

I am a client-centered and culturally attuned marriage and family therapist and a doctoral candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at Florida State University. I hold a Master’s degree in MFT from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. I am dedicated to bringing in a systemic perspective to my clinical work, with awareness of the ways our identities, relationships, and cultural contexts shape our experiences of challenge, connection, and resilience.
 

To help my clients reconnect with themselves and their loved ones in meaningful ways, I integrate evidence-based practices (e.g., Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems Therapy) using Integrative Systemic Therapy and tailor care to meet the unique needs of each individual, couple, or family I work with. I am experienced in supporting clients facing a wide range of concerns, including individual depression, anxiety, relationship distress, conflict, communication issues, infidelity, co-parenting issues, and more.
 

Beyond the therapy room, I am also a researcher and educator, committed to advancing knowledge about what helps couples and families thrive. My work has been published in peer- reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences, and I draw on my research to directly inform my clinical work with clients.
