Hi! My name is Kaikai, and I am very glad that you are here! I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in Florida and a doctoral candidate at Florida State University. Making the decision to start therapy can be challenging and overwhelming, and I hope that I can be a support when you embark on the journey.
Who I am
I earned my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy at University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, back in 2020. I spent most of my post-graduate time working in community-based settings. I moved to Tallahassee in 2023 to pursue a Ph.D. degree in marriage and family therapy at FSU. While I mainly work with individuals and families in Ohio, I am very grateful for the opportunities to work with couples who faced a variety of challenges in their lives since I moved to Tallahassee. I see myself as a collaborator with my clients, providing an accepting space and tools for them to process their thoughts and feelings about the challenges that brought them to therapy.
My approach
In my role as a therapist, I see myself as a collaborator, creating a warm, welcoming space where you can unpack what’s been on your mind about yourself, your romantic partner, or your family. I am a firm believer that although I’ve received training to be a therapist, you are the expert of your life, and I would like to support you in navigating through the weeds of life. When it comes to therapeutic approaches, I draw on evidence-based frameworks such as emotionally focused couples therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, the family systems approach, and narrative therapy.
Who I work with
If you are looking for a therapist who takes a collaborative approach and aims to create a space to process your thoughts and feelings about your various struggles in life, I may be a good fit for you! I have experience working with teenagers and adolescents aged from 11 to 17, as well as adults, with various issues ranging from communication issues to infidelity, and I am open to meeting new clients who are in the teenage to adult age range!
Outside of the office
I am mostly a homebody; I like to spend time with my cat while listening to music and podcasts or watching documentaries. I also recently picked up the hobby of ballroom dancing, and I enjoy the feeling of moving gracefully across the dance floor while following the music's rhythm.
What to expect when you reach out
I typically respond within 48 hours to any questions regarding the process. If you are not sure, you can schedule a 15-minute consultation call with me to see if I am a good fit for you! Once you are scheduled, I will send you the intake paperwork via SimplePractice so you can complete it before your first appointment with me. During the first appointment, I will also briefly go over the paperwork with you and answer any questions you have about the process!
Let’s talk
Thank you again for taking the time to read this blog! If you would like to find a space to navigate the challenges that you encountered in your life, let it be within yourself or people around you, I would be honored to be the one who holds the space and provides support for you!
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at kaikai@bloomandhealtherapy.com. I look forward to supporting you on the journey!
